20230107 USB Dimensions

Splicing is out of the question.

Standard usb connector dimensions

reference: here

Straight through usb cables will have less diameter than 90 degree cable.

0.796 in (20.217 mm) apart

10 mm apart

Width of the usb-c connector: 10mm = 0.393701in

Diameter of the cable: 2.46 mm = 0.09685039

Tests:

  1. cut desired usb cable and submerge underwater, determine if cable needs to be insulated. Theory is that when cable is cut water will run freely through the cable through the connector and destroy the camera.

  2. See if usb cable can fit through an M10 hole

  3. Test out o ring fitment

0.67 inches ~ 17 mm for the size of the hole to interface with the product link

Optionally we could use a single cable grip connector here with a square cord grip to achieve waterproofing

For cable grips see on the SDSU robosub here cable grips were directly threaded into the hull

0.4699759972 in = 11.93739032888mm

0.38956052530000001566in  = 9.8948373426200006975 mm Inner diameter of the thread means we will have to shave off some of the width on the usb c cableproduct here
